Weekend Media Mania

This weekend it's all about the TV at our house.

Our two youngest and I just went to Blockbuster, where I paid way too much money to rent several things. I'm sure I came off as a complete yokel as I asked how much it cost to rent a Wii game and handed over this:

I was told the amount, to which I replied, stunned, "Eight bucks?! To rent a game?!"

There's a reason Bruce doesn't let me out to interact with the public often.

We're thinking about buying the game but want to test drive it first. For the next five days, I'll be telling the kids over and over, "Keep it up and I'll shut the dumb thing off!" Ahhh, the joys of technology.

Well, a trip to Blockbuster is not complete without coming out of the store with an actual movie. So we got this to watch with the kids:

We sometimes cave to advertising in this house. Yes, we do. My kids have seen the commercial for this movie and are constantly sing-songing this little ditty:

"Bow-chicka-wow-wow, chicka-wow-wow."

In fact, my kids couldn't actually tell me the name of the movie, just that "It's the one where they say, 'Bow-chicka-wow-wow, chicka-wow-wow.'"

Hmmmm, helpful, but I need something more to go on there kiddos! As we pulled into Blockbuster's parking lot, we hit pay dirt with the movie poster in the window.

"That's the 'bow-chicka-wow-wow' movie, Mom!"

Mystery solved.

I admit, I'm looking forward to seeing the movie, too. I'm a huge fan of both Jason Lee from "My Name is Earl" and Matthew Gray Gubler from "Criminal Minds". Lee plays Dave Seville, a struggling musician, and Gubler voices Simon, one of the chipmunks.

Check it out.

You know you think he's cute. I'm, of course, talking about the one wearing blue.

Umm, hmm. Bow-chicka-wow-wow!

I couldn't help myself. Sorry. It's just so catchy!

And for Bruce and me, I rented these two:

I wanted a chick flick, but I'm feeling charitable toward my hubby, so I stuck with stuff he'd like. In the very near future, though, Allison and I are shipping our men off on a "Guys Only" camping trip. And she and I are totally pumped about the prospect of seeing this one:

I hope I've picked well for this weekend's viewing. I'll let you know what I think later.

First of all I love that guy from Criminal Minds...but aren't they both wearing blue??

Second, that is so funny you got Alvin & the Chipmunks because we are headed there after baseball practice tonight to rent it also!!! Davis has been begging to see it.

Third...can I come watch Enchanted with you?? HA I have tried to talk the kids into seeing it...after all Davis liked watching Bring It On (cheerleading movie) with me but I have had no luck!

Sounds like you are up for a fun weekend especially since it will be rainy until Sunday!! Great time to veg in front of the TV!!

Cassie, talk about a weep-fest. Bruce and I both shed a bunch of tears during We Are Marshall. I don't think you can watch that one and NOT cry. Tell me what you thought. I've never seen Matthew Mc. be a geek before, but he does it well here. Of course, it was the 70s (I think), so some of that couldn't be helped. But that coach he plays was just odd. :-)
