A Giveaway

I'm doing my first blog giveaway! I'm so excited.

I've pondered what to ask you to answer to get your name in the hat (the one I'll randomly pull a name out of). And I hit on the perfect question while vacuuming.

We have a central vacuum system, and the hose has a hole in it right near the part that connects to the metal, which in turn connects to all attachments. Either the hole gapes open and it doesn't suck, which in this case is a bad thing, or I'm turning the thing every which way to keep the hole pinched shut. And often I'm the one who ends up pinched.

Naturally, I'm vacuuming less and less these days. Of course that makes more sense than actually buying a new hose. Doesn't it?

My question for you: What is broken or unfinished in your home right now that is just really bugging you?

It could be an unfinished project (like say, a playroom in the basement that was built more than a year ago, but still lacks a banister going down the stairs).

It can be something simple (for instance, a bulb is burned out of your motion sensor light as you approach your garage doors so that when it's night, you are always in the dark).

Or it might be something you don't think about every day, but when you see it, you don't like it (hmmmm, maybe that hole in the ceiling in the laundry room that's there because your upstairs heat pump, which is located in your attic, leaked condensation. A lot of condensation.)

Oh, you want to know what you're playing for?

Books. These two babies by Karen Kingsbury.

Gideon's Gift and

Maggie's Miracle.

Both are "like new". I didn't read them. They were passed on to me and, before I got to them, I ended up listening to them on audio books on a recent solo road trip. They are both wonderful stories. But you know that already if you've ever read anything by Kingsbury.

So, whatever needs fixing in your home... please share. I have a real need to know I am not the only person living in a state of continual "unfinished-ness". Yeah, I made that word up.

I'll draw a name next Saturday and let you know who won.

UPDATED... I'm limiting the giveaway to those who live in the U.S. I forgot to add that originally, so I'll include those first few who commented, but from here on out it applies. Thanks.

One thing that is broken in my house that is really bugging me is my son's top dresser drawer. It is one of those cheap particle board dressers that you put together. We have had it for a few years and the front face part of the drawer keeps falling off. I have glued it back on more times than I can count. Well, it fell off again about a month ago and I have not gotten around to repairing it so his top drawer is more like a shelf than a drawer.

Thank you for the giveaway!

Yes my house is full of unfinished projects. I have even done a scrapbook page about it! Right now my husband is working on the basement (seriously, right this minute!) since we recently carpeted it and he's putting in a handrail for the stairs. Thanks for the contest!!

Awhile back we decide to redecorate the spare bedroom/office. We ended up painting but we still need to paint and install all the baseboards and put up blinds. Both books look great. Thanks for hosting the giveaway.

Oh, can I say two things that are making me crazy in my house? The lovely playroom and my daughter's room that the kids "redecorated" by drawing pictures, in permanent marker, not only on the walls but on the doors as well. Second to that is the part of my upstairs wall that had to be patched up but has yet to be painted...we're going on six months and still no paint. It looks ridiculous!

Ok, Tanja..Were you thinking of me or what when you posted this? I mean, if you were drawing on the unfinished projects alone...I would have this one in the bag....

Let's see where to start...=)
1. unfinished garage-started 3 years ago..still no roof..Makes me crazy!!
2. Unfinished landscaping-bought the landscaping bricks, they are still in a pile...
3. Unfinished stained deck...I stained what I could do, the rest was never finished...won't mention any names...=)
4. Unfinished trim in the living room
5. Unfinished bedroom-no closet doors, unfinished sheetrock
6. Commode not flushing well in the 2nd bathroom
7. Lights need replacing under the cabinets-they have been out quite some time

I think that is enough to share...I honestly could probably do a post on this...100 things around my house that are not finished...Hmmm..I might have to attempt that one...hope you had a great Mother's day.

Well...since we just moved there isn't anything that needs fixing obviously but Duffer is bringing all our stuff from storage so by the time I get home today there will be a lot of unpacking to do. Plus I will get all my hanging pictures today and I have the worst time deciding where to hang them. Why is it they were in the perfect place at my last home but then you move and suddenly you can't find where to hang them??? That will be the final thing to do to get us to have this place looking like a home so that is mine....getting all my wall decor up and in the right place! ;)

There is one room in my house that is driving me crazy!! The ceiling fell in due to air conditioner over-flow pan over-flowed and leaked and well dear hubby went to see what was going on and needless to say he fell through and there was a huge mess. The insurance paid for all the repairs but dear hubby decided that he would paint the room. He finally finished with the walls but, now the little pieces of wood that line the walls..sorry I forgot what they are called. He still has not painted them. He refueses for us to put things back in the room till he does this. He is not a good painter so, he needs to do this when he has plenty of time. That is in short supply right now. Hopefully, soon he will get around to it.
Thanks for the contest!

Oh, I hope I am not too late...

At my house there are quite a few "unfinished" projects, well, actually they are "unstarted". My dear hubby is not quite the handy man, more of a thinker, ha!

Any who...I would say my front door. The frame needs to be replaced and well, it just doesn't look great. The upside is that people pay tons of money for that "rustic" look and for us it just came natural. Ha!
